Mama Elephant Fair Feathers: Birthday Wishes

Guess what day it is... it's Friday! Woot woot! And today I have yet another birthday card made for the current My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #217 and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Anything Goes. Have I mentioned how much I just love the sketches at MFT Card Challenges? Well I do! And I've been having a blast playing with their sketches.

I always seem to be short-handed when it comes to birthday cards. So, it's always a good thing to make a few extras and have them on hand for those last minutes when you have no time to whip something. For today's card, I used the feather and "birthday wishes" sentiment from the "Fair Feathers" set by Mama Elephant.

I started off by die cutting a stitched rectangle out of kraft cardstock. Then I arranged and cut all the little fish tails/banners. Once everything looked good to me, I stamped the birthday sentiment in Dark Storm onto the beige banner. Next, I stamped the feathers in mint and pink pigment inks, fuzzy cut them and adhered them on top of the banners. I added some clear Wink Of Stella glitter to the feathers. And lastly, I finished my card with a gray baker's twine and adhered the entire stitched panel to the card base.

That's it for today. I hope you like today's card. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

Stampin' Up! Pun Fun: Congratulations On Your New Baby

Hello crafty friends! Sorry it's been a little quiet around here lately, I've been very busy with work. I worked at Edible Arrangement and before every major holiday, for example, this past Valentine's Day - there were tons of prep work that needed to be prepare. So, I have been working everyday for 7 days leading up to Valentine's Day. Now, the holiday is over and I can relax and make some cards. Yay!!!

And as the title implied, I do have a Baby card for you today! I made this card using a retired stamp set called "Pun Fun" by Stampin' Up!

To begin my card, I cut a green block and a strip of beige patterned papers from DCWV Baby Boy 12"x12" paper stack and adhered them to my card panel. I punched out a 2 1/2" circle from white cardstock. I created the waves using a punched scalloped border and applied some Salty Ocean distressed ink. My whale was stamped two times in two different colors. The one on white cardstock was stamped in Salty Ocean distress ink and the one on kraft cardstock is VersaFine black pigment ink. I fussy cut the whale on the kraft cardstock and adhered it over the blue whale using foam dimensional dots.

For my sentiment banner, I used a 2-line sentiment stamp from another retired Stampin' Up! called Friendly Phrases. I stamped only the first line which is the "congratulations" part in VersaFine and heat embossed with black embossing powders. And then I created the two fish tails sides using a square punch. The circle panel and banner was adhered to the card base. The second line, which was the bottom part of the sentiment stamp was stamped on the inside of the card.

To finish my card, I pierced a little tiny hole using my paper piercer and threaded a blue twine through it. I tied the twine into a bow. I secured the bow with a multi-medium glue.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Flashback Friday Challenge, My Favorite Things Sketch #215, and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

So, that is today's card! I had so much fun playing and combining these challenges together! I think it really helps streamline my creative process and makes it easier for me to design my card. Thanks again for stopping by and have a fantastic week!

Thank You

Hi everyone! I can't believe another week has already flown by! So, to end the week on a happy note, I have a Spring card to share with you today. I made this card for the latest Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge theme All Things Bright & Beautiful. If you haven't already checked out their challenge, I highly recommend you to swing by their blog. The challenge closes next Wednesday at 8 a.m. EST, so you have plenty of time to play along!

When I look through my stamp, I couldn't really find any images that would fit this theme. I do have a lot of flower stamps, but I kinda wanted to do something different and not always using flower as the focal image. So, I did some extra digging in my other stash and found this Fancy Pants Rub-ons that I got many moons ago. I thought this image speaks loudly of a nice cheerful spring time after the long gray days of winter.

I also found a sentiment rub-on to go with this image. I absolutely love it when I can put my older stuff to use! These rub-ons are super old like, circa 2007! I really need to remind myself to make more use of my older stuff. I'm sure many of you can relate to this.

And that's my card for today! Even though it's still very cold, windy, and we still have snow here in the Southeast Wisconsin area, I've started to feel inspired by all of the wonderful spring-themed cards the designers created at SSS blog and hope you've been inspired by mine too :)!

Supplies Used:
Paper/Cardstock: Neenah - Solar White
Rub-Ons: Fancy Pants - Flower Garden; Stampin' Up! - Cherished Memories

Lawn Fawn Plus One: There's a Bun in the Oven

Good morning crafty friends! I hope everyone is having a lovely Wednesday! Today's post features a fun and adorable card for the latest Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and Lawn Fawn Challenge.

For today's card, I used an older stamp from Lawn Fawn's Spring 2011 Release called Plus One. I used the cute stove with the muffin and the sentiment that goes with it. I thought it would be fun to paper pieced the stove. Don't you just love the different colors and patterns? I also decided to add embossing paste to my background to give some nice texture without distracting my paper-pieced stove & muffin.

I adhered a die-cut speech bubble next to my stove. The sentiment was black heat embossed on a strip of patterned paper. Lawn Fawn's current challenge theme is Clean and Simple, so therefore I kept my design to a minimal. Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is to be inspired by the letter H. I was inspired to use Heidi Swapp's products such as her Mix Media Dots Stencil and patterned papers.

And that's it for today's card! I definitely love the simplicity of this card. I had a lot of fun playing with these two challenges! It's actually my second time to enter in these challenges. :) Thanks again for stopping by and see you soon!

Thanks & Friendship

Hello crafty friends! Yesterday, we had a huge snow storm and got up to 11" of snow. In some areas, we got even more because of the snow drift. It was crazy! Because of the blizzard here, I was able to get a lot of stuff done including some crafty stuff! :)

Today I bring you not one, but two cards for a few challenges that I am entering to. The first challenge is Flashback Friday I'm addicted to... with a love theme created by Vicki from Stamp Smiles. Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is also having a challenge going on this week and their theme is H is for.... Last, but not least, Lawn Fawn is having a Clean and Simple challenge going on until the 11th. I hope you will go and check out these fun challenges and if you can, play along too!

I absolutely am addicted to stamp and patterned papers. I have tons of stamps and stacks of patterned paper pads and yet, I want more! :) So, I thought it be fun to featured a retired stamp set from Stampin' Up! called Punch Potpourri and one of my favorite patterned paper from Love Stories Simply Scrappin' Kit which is also retired.

This card is relatively easy to make. I sized my background paper to A2 (4 1/4 x 5 1/2). The background paper is double-sided so I just flipped a left over piece to the other size and punched the edge with a scallop border punch. I adhered those two to the card base along with a sheer blue ribbon scrap.

For the heart, I stamped it with Mama Elephant Brown Sugar pigment ink and clear heat embossed it. I colored the flowers with copics and punched the heart using a coordinating heart punch. This set didn't have a sentiment I wanted, so instead I took out a sentiment from Stampin' Up! Trendy Trees stamp set. I stamped the sentiment in VersaFine Onyx Black pigment ink and heat embossed with black embossing powders. I used a 3/4" square punch to create my little banner. The heart was popped with foam dimensional dots and the sentiment banner was adhered on top of the ribbon. I am entering this card to Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and Flashback Friday.

For the second card, I stamped the little deers in Memento Tuxedo black twice. The deer on the right was created using the mirror technique. I colored them with copics and fussy cut them. I die cut my focal panel using Lawn Fawn's Small Stitched Rectangles Stackables dies. I blended Tumbled Glass, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot distress inks to get the night sky background. To create my snow drifts, I took a doily and cut it into thirds. Those were adhered under a blended Chipped Sapphire strip of cardstock.

I grabbed one of the sentiment from Stampin' Up! It's Snow Time stamp set and white heat embossed. I am entering this card to Lawn Fawn Lawnscaping Challenge and Simon Say Stamps Monday Challenge.

I would love to see what you've created if you do decide to participate in these challenges. Just leave a comment below with a link to your blog. Thanks again for stopping by and I apologized for the lengthy post! If you did read it all the way through, give yourself a big hug from me! :)
