Stampin' Up!: Butterfly Birthday

Hello crafty friends! Happy Saturday! I hope you all are enjoying your weekend so far!

I wanted to pop in and share the card I made for my crafty friend Shannon from Stamp and Glitter. Today is actually her birthday. If you know her, go wish her a happy birthday!

Shannon had told me that her favorite color is purple and that she loves butterfly. So, I personalized the card and envelope especially for her. Shannon, I hope your birthday is extra special today! And I hope you are getting spoil! :) Happy birthday!!!

For today's card, I wanted to create a glass butterfly or at least try to. I love just how beautiful they are! I stamped the butterfly from Stampin' Up! Kindness Matters set in Mama Elephant Eggplant ink and clear heat embossed onto a vellum sheet. I added some clear Wink of Stella to the wings and carefully fussy cut. Isn't she beautiful with all that shine? I love it!

For the card base, I dry embossed a purple and white cardstocks with a Stampin' Up! Flourish Texturz Plate and then die-cut using Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangle dies. Then, I stamped the fancy frame from Stampin' Up! Frames with a Flourish set in VersaFine Onyx black and black heat embossed. Next, I masked the outside edges and blended together Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Shabby Shutters and Scattered Straw distress inks. Then I stamped the birthday sentiment and carefully fussy cut the frame out. Everything was assembled and adhered to a white cardstock.

That is all for me today! I had so much fun creating this card and I was quite happy to put some of those retired Stampin' Up! sets to use. I actually had forgotten about them until I needed a butterfly image! Lol! Thanks so much for stopping in and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Newton's Nook Designs: Masculine Cards

Hello crafty friends!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! A few friends and I went out to the movies on Saturday and watched "The Gift." It was alright for the most part. I enjoyed it. And yesterday, I pretty much craft all day. I stopped a couple hours here and there. My brother-in-law and nephew stopped over for a little visit in the morning and in the evening the husband and I took a stroll down to the harbor to watch the sunset. It was such a beautiful summer evening. I really wish I would have brought my camera to take a photo for you girls. Maybe next time.

Today, I have two cards to share. One is for my Father-in-law's birthday and the other one is for my awesome brother who was very thoughtful to send me some amazing stamps goodies he found while on his trip to New York. Both of today's cards featured Winston's from Newton's Nook Designs Winston's Birthday set.

For the first card, I created some signs using partial of the sentiment "You're Toad-ally Awesome!" from Simon Says Stamp Quite The Pair set and "Thanks" from Lawn Fawn Woodgrain Backdrops set. Next, I stamped the card base with the woodgrain background stamp in Simon Says Stamp Khaki ink. I used Tumbled Glass distress ink for the background and white heat embossed the clouds from Lawn Fawn Into The Woods. The grasses are die-cut using Lawn Fawn Grassy Border dies in Simon Says Stamp Green Leaf and Green Apple cardstocks. Winston was colored with Copic marker and carefully fussy cut. I decided to cut his arms out to make it look like he was holding the sign.

The second card, I used the birthday accessories in Winston's Birthday set to create the scene. Everything was colored with Copic markers. The balloon have a coat of glossy accents. I added some clear Wink of Stella to the hat, cupcake and present. The last thing I did for this card was stamping the sentiment with VersaMark and blacked heat embossing it.

These two cards didn't really take that long to put together. Once all the pieces was die-cut and fussy cut, the assembling of the cards went pretty fast. That is all for me today! I hope you enjoy today's card! Thank you so much for stopping in! Wishing you all a fabulous week!

Newton's Nook Designs: It's Your Birthday! + IG Giveaway

Hello there!

It's finally Friday and that means we're almost officially done with the work week! 8 more hours to go! Woo-hoo! One thing I love most about my job is having the weekend off to do whatever I want! I plan to craft, hang out with a few friends and try my hands again at baking some macaroons. Last time, the macaroons didn't go so well, so hopefully (and fingers crossed) that this time it'll turn out better!

Today, I have yet another birthday card to share. This time I used Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Birthday Bash set to create the cute card above. This set is so much fun! I love coloring the fun images!

I started by stamping and coloring the image with Copic Markers. I wanted it to be a one layer panel, but I messed up when I stamped the sentiments. So I had to fussy cut the image out and adhered it to another white cardstock. I stamped the sentiment the second time and it came out perfectly. I added some shadows underneath the kraft bag. My husband thinks its pee stain. Lol! Whether it looks like pee stain or not, I am keeping it the way it is! Too much work and love goes into this card already. :)

The focal panel was die-cut using Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangles Stackable and then die-cut again using Mama Elephant Landscape Trio dies. This creates the wavy border. I layered the focal panel on top of another stitched rectangle and adhered that to a larger stitched chevron rectangle die-cut. I thought it be fun to add a scallop rectangle in with the layers and so I die-cut a piece of vellum using Mama Elephant Femme Frames dies and adhered both pieces onto the white card base. I then finished the card by scattering some sparkling clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

Before I signed off, I wanted to let you know that I am hosting a giveaway over on instagram. If you have an account, make sure you pop over there to enter my giveaway. You girls have been so supportive and kind, leaving me encouraging comments and tips, so I wanted to give my bloggie friends the chance to win too.

That is all for me today! Thanks so much for swinging by! Have a wonderful weekend!

Lawn Fawn: Have a Sweet Birthday

Hello crafty friends!

Happy Hump Day! We're about halfway through the week! Yay!! I'm popping in quickly to share a birthday shaker card I made for my sister-in-law and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Food and/or Drink. My SIL favorite color is pink and so I decided to paired that with beige. What do you think? Do they compliment each other well?

I used Lawn Fawn Baked With Love stamp set to create my card. The images were colored with Copic Markers and then they were carefully fussy cut. Most of the sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh, except for the largest pink iridescent sequins, which is from Spiegel Mom Scraps Etsy Shop.

Honestly, this shaker card took me FOREVER to make. They sure are fun, but there's so much work involved in creating one! This is the first time I used Fun Foam and it was not FUN! Lol! Since I have to applied my own adhesive to both sides of the Fun Foam, the adhesive "booger" kept getting on the acetate sheet and the sequins kept getting stuck along the side of the Fun Foam! It was really frustrating! If you have any advice, feel free to share them!

I had to add some sequins on the outside of the shaker because I accidentally got some embossing powder on where some of the sequins are. I forgot to apply the anti-static powder on where I stamped the sentiment!

Even though it took me a long time and some frustrating time to get my shaker working, I still had fun. And, I still absolutely LOVE how the card turned out! :) That's all for today! Thank you for stopping by and I'll see you back here on Friday! Enjoy the rest of your week!

Newton's Nook Designs: Happy Birthday

Hello Crafty Friends!

Happy Monday to you!!! I'm sorry that it's been so quiet around here on the blog this past week! I have been completely swamped at work. The free time that I had was either spent snoozing, eating or catching up on my shows. Crafting really wasn't on my mind until last night. I made three cards total, but the other two still need a little touch up, so I'll  share them sometime later this week when I finished them.

It's such a shame that I won this cute Delightful Doxies set from Newton's Nook Designs months ago and I just finally inking them up! I really had a good intention on pulling out this set sooner, but each time I sat down to create, either the image doesn't work or the recipient that I'm creating for doesn't have a doxie or isn't a dog person. I try very hard to tailor all my cards to fit my recipient likes and personalities.

The current theme for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog this week is Tie It Up, which is to use twine or ribbon. But since, I couldn't find any matching twine, string, or ribbon to go with the patterned paper on the left side, I decided to create my own using that same patterned paper, Lawn Fawn Stitched Borders die and Mama Elephant Dainty Bow die. I hope this still qualify and if not, it's okay too!

I did a little bit of masking on the doxie and balloon, then I blended the background with distress inks. I colored the doxie and balloon with Copic Markers. And then I finished the card off with some clear Wink of Stella and a coat of glossy accents on the balloon.

I hope you like today's card and thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and leaving me some blog love! I appreciate them and read every single one of them and sometime twice! :) Have a wonderful week and see you again soon!

Lawn Fawn: Masculine Birthday Card

Hello crafty friends!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! As for me, my weekend was packed with fun! My husband and I met up with a few of our friends at the Bristol Renaissance Faire. This seasonal entertainment event is basically a place where people recreates a time with knights and maids back in the 1600. It was real fun to see some of the shows and tried some of the food there. We also went to the Taste of Wisconsin on Sunday and sampled some yummy food. We got to see my cousin performed and listened to some live music. Some people even got up and danced! It was a lot of fun!

I wanted to pop in quickly to share this masculine birthday card I made for my nephew and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes. I used the Lawn Fawn Beep Boop Birthday stamp set to create my little birthday scene. All the images were colored with Copic Markers. For the background panel, I stamped 3 different sizes bolts randomly using the same ink as the cardstock. I added glossy accents to the balloons and a touch of the clear Wink of Stella to the cupcake and presents bows as a last finishing touches.

Please excuse my brief post, but I have to get going or I'll be late for work. Wouldn't want that to happen! :) Thanks for stopping by and have a great week, friends!
