Newton's Nook Designs Guest Design Post

Hello and Happy Leap Day!

Today is my Guest Design Post over at the Newton's Nook Blog. I am sharing this fun birthday card I made for my husband's birthday. Don't you just love this cute sloth and sentiment from the Newton's Nook Designs In Slow Motion stamp set? I absolutely love him and think he is the perfect critter for a masculine card.

For this card, I wanted to create a tropical rain forest sunset scene with a mountainous silhouette behind the sloth and I think I achieved the look I was going for. What do you think?

I started out by creating a mountainous mask using a wavy metal dies and masking paper. I first blended the upper part of a white cardstock and then went back to blend the mountainous silhouette. While I waited for the background to dry, I stamped, colored and fussy cut the sloth out. I stamped the sentiment in Jet Black StazOn Ink onto a piece of acetate cardstock. I decided to create my own nature sequins mix using an assorted colors and sizes from Pretty Pink Posh. After arranging everything to its proper place, I assembled the shaker and adhered the entire shaker to an Olive card base.

I don't know how anyone could pass up this stamp set. This set includes different types of critters and I love how you can use the critters for all sorts of occasions and different types of projects. So head over quickly to the Newton's Nook Shop to grab this set for you too! Today is the perfect opportunity to grab yours because they are running a Leap Day sale! You will get FREE Shipping with a $29 purchase to US addresses (or $3.50 off international orders)! Now go grab yours before they are sold out!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed today's card!

Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #29 - Color Challenge

Hello to you and Happy Friday!

I'm popping in with a card for the latest Inky Paws Challenge. For this new challenge, there is a pretty color combination along with a photo inspiration. I just absolutely love the colors and so I decided to create a Friendship card using the color challenge. One of my goal this year is to use some of my older stamp sets, so I pulled out Newton's Nook Versatile Vases. I adore the images and sweet puns.

For my image, I colored with Copic Markers and carefully hand cut it out by hand. I die-cut some matching papers using Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles Stackables and Mama Elephant Landscape Trio Dies. I applied some shimmer using the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush Pen to the flowers and added a coat of glossy accents to the vase. The sentiment was white heat embossed. I popped the image up with foam squares adhesives and finished the card with a few matching Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

I hope you'll come play and link up with the new Inky Paws Challenge! I'd love to see what you create! Don't forget to hop on over to the blog to check out the rest of the DT's projects.

Until next time,
Ka

Mini Cards featuring Neat & Tangled Hand Stitched

Hello friends,

I'm popping in today with some mini cards I made for SpiegelMom Scraps. I love having a stash of mini cards on hand because I love sending happy mails to friends and family. I find these smaller size cards incredibly useful because I can write them a small message, stamp a tiny encouraging sentiment or include an inspiring quote. These are also useful to have on hand for those last-minute occasions too where you don't have the time to make a card.

Make sure you pop over to SpiegelMom Scraps Blog to read more details on these. Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit! Have a wonderful day!

Newton's Nook Designs February Release - Newton Unwinds

Hello and welcome back! Today is the second reveal day of Newton's Nook Designs February release and today we're showcasing the Newton Unwinds stamp set.

I think this set is absolutely adorable! I love how relaxed Newton look! To start my card, I stamped and colored the image with Copic Markers and cut it out by hand. I set the image aside to work on my background panel. I dyed some embossing paste with Salty Ocean, Cracked Pistachio and Spun Sugar distress inks and applied the colored paste over on top of a polka dots stencil.

While I wait for the paste to dry, I stamped the sentiment and white heat embossed on black cardstock. I snipped one of the end to create a banner. I popped Newton with foam dimensional adhesives and adhered the banner on a vellum die-cut circle. Once the paste was dried, I finished the card by adhering the vellum circle to the colored paste background and adding a few Pretty Pink Posh marshmallow sequins.

I had so much fun playing with embossing paste and coloring Newton! I just love the way this card turned out! Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to hop along with us for a chance to win this stamp set!

Newton's Nook Designs February Release - Made from Scratch

Hello again! I hope everyone is enjoying their week so far! If you follow Newton's Nook Designs blog, you probably already know... however if not, I am absolutely thrilled to announce that I am guest designing at Newton's Nook for the month of February! :)

Today we're kicking off the new February release with a blog hop! I'm the last stop of the blog hop, so if you're just joining now, you'll want to hop on over to the Newton's Nook blog to start from the beginning. Be sure to stop along each blog and leave comments for a chance to win! Today is the first reveal day of Newton's Nook Designs February release and we're showcasing Made from Scratch.

For today's project, I decided to make a set of fun birthday cards featuring the mixer.

I colored all the images with copic markers and carefully fussy cut them. I did some tone-on-tone stamping using the egg whisker image on the stitched die-cuts circles. I added some white doilies and natural twine between the card bases and stitched circles, that way the attention are on my focal images.

I love the versatility of this set and these sweet baking images are not only perfect to make birthday cards, but other occasion too! Thanks again for stopping by!

Anniversary Card featuring Lawn Fawn

Hello crafty friends...

Hope you're having a great week. Mine has been pretty low key as I've been feeling under the weather. I hate the feeling of being sick! Yuck! I actually made this card before I got sick, otherwise I wouldn't have anything to share with you today.

I used one of my favorite new critter stamps from Lawn Fawn, a couple distress inks, some Copic Markers and a little embossed heart sequin. I absolutely love today's card share because it's a clean and simple design... just the way I like them. I also made a shaker version, picture below, for SpiegelMom Scraps which you view more details here.

Well, that's it for me today. Thanks for stopping by,
Ka

Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge 3 + Sketch

Hello...

I'm popping in with a Spring-themed card for the latest Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge. For this third challenge, there is a fun sketch included as one of the element in the challenge board. Of course, it's obvious that I will be choosing one of the row with the sketch because, well, it's something different. I decided to choose the 3rd row across using stitching, flowers and sketch.

For the focal point of my card, I used the pretty Hand Stitched stamp set from Neat and Tangled. I did a light blending for the background using distress inks onto a Neenah cardstock. I stamped the images in the lightest color I have and hand stitched them using embroidery threads. I finished the card by sprinkling some Pretty Pink Posh sequins. What do you think?

I'd love for you to come play along. Don't forget that there's an opportunity to win a stamp set. Hop on over to the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge for more inspiration!

Now onto my project for this hop. I made a shaker card using Mama Elephant Playful Pups and Lawn Fawn Woodgrain Backdrops stamp sets.

To start my card, I created a pattern on the purple paper using a paw stamp. I stamped and colored my images with Copic Markers and cut them out by hand. I mixed SpiegelMom Scraps Crushin' On Purple sequins mix and Moonshine Delight sequins together for the shaker. I finished the card by scattering some SMS sequins and other sequins I found in my stash.
